EDUCATION & MISSIONSEducation is an integral part of a Christian's life. Learning about what God expects of us, and the example that Jesus presented to us not only helps us grow in knowledge, but it helps us grow spiritually. Although we will never understand the full extent of the Glory of Jesus Christ, education provides us with the opportunity to strive to be the Christians that God has planned for us to become. To further extend this education, we seek to apply these lessons to life, in Ministry, Outreach & Mission. There are endless possibilities of servant hood in each of these areas, allowing us to grow further still in heart, mind & spirit, and to live our lives for the Lord. We as a church offer many areas of Christian Education for all age groups. Sunday Morning Church School at Larned UMC is held for an hour during our 9:30 am service, from 9:30 am – 10:30 am. Youth from Pre-K through grade 12 learn God's word & lessons, with the help of volunteer adult members of our congregation. Age appropriate activities and materials are creatively incorporated and enthusiastically received! Larned UMC offers a unique experience for 3 & 4 year olds who are ready to attend a preschool. Mom’s Preschool is a fully equipped pre-school combining academics, culture and Christianity all in one setting. Cathy Hanken, a former kindergarten teacher, is the Director and 4-year-old classroom teacher; Kathie Damm is the 3-year-old classroom teacher. These two ladies have over 55 years combined teaching experience. Classes are held in the Pre-K classrooms in the upstairs level of our church 4 days a week during the school year and offers classes on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays & Fridays, from 9:00 am – 11:30 am. Education for the Christian adult is vital for continual spiritual growth and ministries. Bible Study classes, fellowship and youth programs are just a few types of education available. Currently there are four bible study groups held through Larned UMC, all are welcome!!! Women's Bible Study The Women of Purpose Study will be held Wednesday evenings from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. in the Parlor of the First United Methodist Church.
